The integration of digital medical records (DMRs) into modern healthcare systems has revolutionized the landscape of patient care, research, and administrative operations. These records facilitate unprecedented levels of accessibility, efficiency, and analytical power, empowering healthcare providers to deliver more personalized and precise care. However, the transition to digital systems brings behavioural and technical challenges that require careful consideration. Among these, the Diderot Effect—a phenomenon where an initial acquisition spurs a cascade of related consumption—plays a crucial role in shaping the adoption and expansion of digital systems. Simultaneously, the reliability and utility of DMRs hinge on data-driven validation processes that ensure accuracy, consistency, and security. This article delves into the multifaceted roles of these concepts, examining their interplay and implications for stakeholders across the healthcare continuum.
