The restoration of histoarchitecture and function of a severed peripheral nerve embedded in scar tissue presents a problem with multiple issues, thus requiring a multiple-prong approach. Each issue must be addressed for a successful end result: Wallerian Degeneration/Regeneration; the normal histoarchitecture of a mixed sensory/motor peripheral nerve; identification of stem cell(s) that have the differentiation potential to form neurons and their supportive tissues; isolation of those stem cells in the least invasive method possible; methods to deliver stem cells to the cell bodies and cell processes of a mixed nerve; local non-toxic anesthetics to mix with stem cells for direct injections through soft tissues; pre-address any underlying co-morbidities that may prevent successful restoration of nerve function; provide building blocks for Schwann cell remyelination of nerve fibers; non-surgical removal of existing scar tissue; increase activity of innate immune system to remove fragments of scar tissue; decrease inflammation at the original site of scar tissue formation; resolve platelet rich plasma’s inductive influence on stem cells; decrease future scar tissue formation; and resolve disuse atrophy of skeletal muscle by restoring tone in skeletal muscle. The ultimate goal of this treatment plan is to increase quality of life using naturally-occurring autologous endogenous adult telomerase positive stem cells (aTPSCs), combinatorial nutraceutical super pill (CNSP), supplements, and an enzyme to address the issues defined above. The hypothesis is to support Wallerian regeneration given the appropriate cells, supplements, and enzymes to regrow the severed nerve for reinnervation to regain function in associated skeletal muscles.
