Peer Review and Editorial Procedure
Peer review is an essential part of the publication process and ensures that GSC Advanced Research and Reviews (GSCARR) maintains the highest quality standards for its published articles. All manuscripts submitted to the journal are carefully and thoroughly evaluated by independent experts in the relevant field.
Immediately after submission, the Managing Editor performs a technical pre-check of the manuscript to ensure that it meets the basic submission requirements and falls within the scope of the journal. The manuscript is then assigned to an Academic Editor who conducts an editorial assessment and recommends suitable reviewers.
The Academic Editor may decide to proceed with peer review, request revisions before peer review, or reject the manuscript if it does not meet the journal’s standards. If the manuscript proceeds to review, the Editorial Office organizes the peer review process by inviting independent experts to evaluate the manuscript.
Each manuscript is typically evaluated by at least two reviewers. Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments. In some cases, additional rounds of review may be required before a final decision is made.
The final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of a manuscript is made by the Academic Editor or Editor-in-Chief. Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting and language editing before publication.
Reviewers’ Profile and Responsibilities
Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the quality and integrity of the scholarly record. All reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts in a timely, objective, and ethical manner while following the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Reviewers should meet the following criteria:
- No conflicts of interest with the authors.
- Should not belong to the same institution as the authors.
- Should not have collaborated or co-authored publications with the authors within the past three years.
- Have relevant research expertise and a proven publication record.
- Be experienced scholars in the subject area of the manuscript.
- Hold a recognized academic or research affiliation.
Reviewers who accept an invitation to review a manuscript are expected to:
- Possess the expertise necessary to evaluate the scientific quality of the manuscript.
- Provide detailed and constructive review reports.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards throughout the review process.
- Submit their review within the agreed review period.
General Guidelines for Reviewers
1. Invitation to Review
Manuscripts submitted to the journal are reviewed by at least two experts, including volunteer reviewers, members of the reviewer board, or experts recommended by the Academic Editor.
Invited reviewers are requested to:
- Accept or decline the invitation promptly after reviewing the title and abstract.
- Suggest alternative reviewers if they are unable to review the manuscript.
- Request deadline extensions if additional time is needed.
2. Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers should declare any potential conflicts of interest before accepting the review assignment. Possible conflicts may include professional collaborations, institutional affiliations, personal relationships, or financial interests related to the manuscript.
If reviewers are uncertain whether a situation constitutes a conflict of interest, they should contact the Editorial Office for clarification.
3. Confidentiality
The journal operates a single-blind or double-blind peer review process. All manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share or discuss the manuscript with others without permission from the Editorial Office.
Reviewers should also avoid revealing their identity to authors through comments or document metadata.
4. Preparation of Review Reports
Review reports should be written in clear and constructive English. Reviewers should carefully evaluate the manuscript, including figures, tables, data, and methodology.
Reviewers are encouraged to provide:
- A brief summary of the manuscript.
- General comments on the significance and originality of the study.
- Specific comments addressing methodological issues or data interpretation.
- Suggestions for improving clarity and scientific quality.
Reviewers should maintain a neutral and respectful tone and focus on constructive feedback that helps authors improve their work.
5. Evaluation Criteria
During the review process, reviewers may consider the following aspects:
- Originality and novelty of the research.
- Relevance to the journal’s scope.
- Scientific soundness and methodological rigor.
- Quality of data analysis and interpretation.
- Clarity and organization of the manuscript.
- Significance and contribution to the field.
6. Ethical Standards
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must adhere to the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics.
- Manuscripts must be original and not previously published.
- Text or data from other sources must be properly cited.
- Research involving humans or animals must follow ethical guidelines.
If a reviewer suspects plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, or any other form of research misconduct, they should immediately notify the Editorial Office.
Editorial Decision
After receiving reviewer reports, the Academic Editor evaluates the recommendations and makes the final editorial decision. Possible decisions include:
- Accept in present form
- Accept after minor revisions
- Reconsider after major revisions
- Reject
Authors submitting revised manuscripts should provide a detailed response to each reviewer comment. The revised manuscript may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
Publication Ethics
GSC Advanced Research and Reviews (GSCARR) follows internationally accepted publishing standards and ethical guidelines. The journal adheres to best practices recommended by organizations such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and other recognized bodies.
Any cases of suspected ethical misconduct will be investigated by the Editorial Office and handled according to established ethical procedures.
