The proliferation of artificial intelligence technologies in creative industries has fundamentally transformed traditional concepts of authorship, challenging established copyright frameworks that were designed for human creators. This comprehensive review examines the emerging approaches to copyright attribution and ownership for AI-assisted and AI-generated works within digital ecosystems. We analyze current legal frameworks, technical attribution methods, and governance models that address the unique challenges presented by AI in creative production. The review synthesizes findings from recent studies, legal precedents, and industry implementations, highlighting the complex interplay between technological capabilities, legal traditions, and creative practices. Our analysis reveals that while significant progress has been made in developing attribution frameworks, substantial gaps remain in legal harmonization, technical standardization, and cross-border enforcement. The paper concludes by identifying critical research gaps and proposing future directions for establishing cohesive standards that balance innovation incentives with creator rights. This review provides valuable insights for policymakers, legal scholars, technologists, and creative professionals navigating the evolving landscape of AI and copyright.
